The Hub Project is run by Living Word Church at The Riverside Centre and exists to serve the local community through practical demonstrations of the love of Jesus. Our aim is to create a welcoming place where people can find friendship, support, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.
Through The Hub, we run a range of community projects and activities and we also work in partnership with local charities and organisations, enabling us to offer even more support and opportunities to people within our community.
Below are details of the community activities going on in the Riverside Centre:
The Hub Cafe is a welcoming community cafe run by the Church and open to everyone. Open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30am to 4.00pm, we serve great value lunches including baked potatoes, toasted sandwiches, freshly baked cakes and great coffee too. The Hub Cafe is a great place where people can connect, meet friends, study, or simply relax in a warm and welcoming environment.
Why not come along, grab a coffee and make yourself feel at home?
The Healthy Eating Cooking Class is a new project at The Hub, designed to help people plan and prepare healthy meals on a budget. The sessions include meal planning, shopping wisely, learning cooking skills, and exploring new healthy foods together.

Little Stars is a warm and friendly stay-and-play group for children aged 0-4 and their parents or carers. We meet every Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 am during term time.
Your little ones will love exploring our toys, games and crafts, also with plenty of healthy snacks, while grown-ups can relax and chat over a hot drink and a slice of home-baked cake.
It is the perfect place to build new friendships in a supportive environment, and we would love to see you there! There is no need to book - just come along and join the fun for only £1 each.
Elevate Youth is our youth group run by the Church, for young people aged 10+ from our church and their friends. It’s a fun, relaxed space to hang out, make friends and grow in faith together. Expect dodgeball chaos, competitive Uno, Nintendo Switch battles, great snacks at our tuck shop, good vibes and honest conversations about life and faith. Whether you’ve grown up in church or never been before, you’re welcome at Elevate Youth!

The Hub serves as a vital distribution point for the city-wide foodbank, operating proudly under the Trussell Trust banner. Our mission is to support the community by providing essential supplies to those in need.
The foodbank is open every Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. To receive a food parcel, please ensure you have a valid voucher or code to present to our volunteers upon arrival. We are here to help and look forward to supporting you.

10am - 3pm every weekday except Thursday.
On Tuesdays from 10am we host a Community Social Group in our Hub Cafe. It’s a relaxed and friendly space where you can meet new people, enjoy a chat over a drink, and feel part of the community. Whether you love knitting and nattering, crafts, board games, or simply want somewhere welcoming to sit and talk, there’s something for everyone.
